automated courses at MITx

Last week I was writing about the possibility of learning from internet and this is not an unknown news, but what it really is, is that since the next March you can follow a MIT´s course outside the University and for free, with multiple content, resources of any kind like recorded lectures, e-books and forums, but this does not everything, you could also present an exam and once you pass it obtain a certification of the MITx. (the x stands for extended)

"There are already online degree courses, but the MIT proposal is unusual in that it is inviting students anywhere in the world, without charge or prior entrance requirements, to study for a certificate carrying the MIT brand." says the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-17012968

The menace for local or latinamerican universities is increasing, because the MITx is inviting people for all over the world to take this course for FREE!! In this opportunity it is about circuits and electronics, but they are expecting to design more courses about biology, maths and physics.

I finish this cite with:
"MIT's provost, Rafael Reif, says the university wants to use this experiment as a way of finding out what can be delivered by online courses and what needs to be supported by face-to-face interaction with staff."

While over here administratives are thinking that everything can be taught in virtual environments, even though teachers and students have no experience in virtual courses and not having a reflection about the knowledge is going to be taught!!
